Where Have They Brought Me?

2026 · Oil on canvas · 120 × 90 cm · Invisible Imprisonments

The eyes of a fragile child figure are filled with the world we have created for them. Lines running alongside the figure seem to press them into a box. The child is here, but the space they must fit into has been defined before they can choose for themselves. Digital intimacy promises constant connection, yet the gaze of others can become the measure by which a person judges their body, worth and place among others. Being visible does not mean being truly seen. Amid digital connections that promise closeness, the simplest thing may be missing: someone with whom one does not have to prove one’s worth. The painting speaks of a child’s vulnerability in an environment they did not choose. The question is what kind of world we have handed down to them, and whether we are there for them within it.
