The winged figure’s face remains hidden. Warm and cool tones give it a presence that is at once physical and diffuse. It is visible, yet an encounter with it cannot be taken for granted. An angel may appear as an image or simply as light. To notice it requires a willingness to encounter something that cannot be brought fully under one’s control. The possibility of being saved exists, but no one can accept it on another person’s behalf.
